i'm using blackberries in a picture this week for school, weirdly enough. we have to shoot three different concepts and turn in six images (and an infinite number of set ups) --- white on white, black on black, and grey on grey. it's an exercise in instances where the in camera meter will lie and we have to rely on our nice meters. i decided i wanted to make my six images two triptychs. so far i have three different ideas, of which i will pick the most successful sets. one super modern, where i am constructing three boxes and will paint plastic fruit each color; literally shooting grey on grey. one where i hang different backgrounds and use my softbox to shoot portraits of my friends wearing clothes of the appropriate colors. and one with food (garlic on a white cutting board, pepper spilled on a grey countertop, and blackberries in a black bowl. we'll see how it goes in critique.
Things I love: poetry and precise words, kitchen gardens, wildflowers, photography, the natural world, walking in the woods, geography and culture and a sense of place, thunderstorms, yoga, letterpress artwork, knit objects, earth tones, chai tea, little birds, the ocean, wool, thick books to get lost in, ecotones and diagrams, sheep and llamas and goats, handwritten letters, the body (mine and yours).
You are welcome to link to photos and posts, but please do not use content or photos from this blog or my photostream without receiving permission from me first! I'm likely to be thrilled at your using words &/or images, but I just would like to feel involved! Thanks! :)
