my rotator whosamawhatchit

Turns out I broke my first bone, which is terribly exciting, as you can imagine. And had my first x-rays (that weren't teeth x-rays, of course), which were extraordinarily painful, especially when she wanted me to flatten my arm right out on the table she kept raising up. It's my rotator thingy in my elbow. I have to call the orthopedic surgeon tomorrow, but I'll probably just learn that I have to keep my arm in a sling for longer then anyone would want it to be in a sling. I suppose the timing isn't the absolute worst--it could have been just before the wedding!

I now get to change into parent meeting worthy clothing and get out to De Pere where we'll meet the parents and the kids. My mother, who went in this morning, read the files, and some of the kids have extensive theatre backgrounds, which is great, but leaves me feeling a great deal underqualified. My thought on this is--if they have been involved in many productions, they may not have had the opportunity to work on some of the character development, some of the set design, some of the costume design, that we want them to work on. The goal isn't to put on a production at the end (though a small one will happen) but to experience other aspects in theatre that they have not before. Lots of work ahead of us, but I think we just need to close our eyes and hold on.

I think it will be a lot easier next week--my elbow a bit more healed, the dogs not driving me batty. It's hard to sleep at night when you have a golden retriever who insists on trying to share the twin bed in the basement. Good thing they're cute!

Oh gosh! I don't check on you for a few days, and look what happens! I'm so sorry about your arm! What a trooper you are though, still typing and preparing to teach. I'm pretty certain that I would be laid up somewhere moaning and insisting on being fanned and fed grapes. Happy healing!
