dogs at play

One of my favorite things to do at my in-laws' place in the country: take photographs of the dogs whipping around the yard, anxious to capture the slobbery tennis ball. I'm by no means any good at this, but I do love to see what comes out, what contortions the dogs might make, which dog comes in focus (who knew, black Zephyr would be the one above?), how truly remarkable it is that a beast like that can leap so high.

The last time I did this, the snow was shin deep, the sun was out, and the world was a puff of frost. I love the flashes of green. The trees are still slumbering, slowly waking, the buds vague in parts. I'm looking forward to the long walks in and around Hay Creek, up Barn Bluff, camping.
