'r' rated movies and classroom use

have you ever seen a movie that you thought would spark a great discussion in class, but you knew you'd never be able to show it because it's rated 'r' etc.?

i watched crash tonight, and i would highly highly recommend it for people reading this blog, but really only if you are interested in having a serious (i hope) conversation afterwards. i would love love to show it in my class, but it's rated 'r', which means it will probably never see the rooms of lshs. i get it, and i respect that, but at the same time, there is so much going on...

anyway, i think there is a really good essay called 'white privilege', which i am going to use this year (as opposed to student teaching when it was recommended that i didn't). this time we're going to talk about it when we read tkam.
