I was amazed by this little creature--its willowy, translucent legs, its clever hopping, the spindles propelling it forward. Here, you can see proportion: fingernail to praying mantis. I loved these when I was young, growing up in the South. There is a kind of magic in its kinesthetics, in the heart of its face.
