honeymoon: booked
We booked our honeymoon: a cruise to Alaska. This is such a surprise to us (as was the venue for our wedding reception), since we are not the types to enjoy the cramped spaces of a ship, the swaying motion of so many bodies in narrow hallways, the kind to shove for elbow room overlooking the ocean, but as Angie pointed out in the comments, we are quite indecisive, and where on earth would I find the time to plot out a wondrous honeymoon while planning a wondrous wedding and a theatre course (and preparing for my poetry course in a month, etc.).
I must admit, the idea of this kind of laziness thrills me. Sleeping in... that bed, the balcony we have connected to our room, padding out to shore, sleeping next to the man I can call my husband. And all those wonderful things people do on honeymoons: we'll do it with a permanent oceanside view. I love the idea of being able to easily add "shore excursions" to our itinerary and see various cities while we are away. We do hope to one day return and spend time in Denali, but this, perhaps when we have more of an adventurous purpose. This is meant for sheer luxury with a gorgeous view, meant for recognizing ourselves with new roles, for celebrating this long-time-coming change in our life.
The Fiance took me out to The Port this evening, the fanciest restaurant in town, and a place we had not yet gone, saving it for a special occassion. We dressed up, and he looked so handsome... I wanted to press myself into his arms and say forget dinner, but I'm glad we went. If you ever go, try the Drunken Raspberry Creme Brulee. So good. Almost as good as the company.
